Indian Forest Service (IFS) is one of the three All India Services of the Government of India.

Indian Forest Service (IFS), offers a highly challenging and rewarding career.

Indian Forest Service is one of the Civil Services of India and belongs to the apex All India Services group.

An IFS officer is largely independent of district administration and exercises administrative, judicial and financial powers in their own domain.

IFS Eligibility:

Candidates must be graduates with atleast one of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, Statistics and Geology; from a recognized university, or must have Bachelors Degree in Agriculture or Engineering or Forestry from a recognized university.

They must have attained the age of 21 years but should be less than 26 years of age.

Selection Process-

The competitive examination for the IFS is usually held by the UPSC in the month of July every year.

1. Junior Time Scale:

15,600 39,100 with Grade Pay of 5,400

2. Senior Time Scale:

15,600 39,100 with Grade Pay of Rs. 6,600

3. Junior Administrative Grade
15,600 39,100 with Grade Pay of Rs. 7,600

4. Deputy Conservator of Forest (Selection Grade)
37,400 67,000 with Grade Pay of Rs. 8,700

5. Conservator of Forests
37,400 67,000 with Grade Pay of Rs. 8,900

6. Chief Conservator of Forests
37,400 67,000 with Grade Pay of Rs. 10,000

7. Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests
67,000 79,000

8. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests
75,000 80,000

9. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Chief of Forestry Department of a state)
Fixed Pay Scale: 80,000
