The Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) was introduced on 17th December, 1931 by Professor P.C.Mahalanobis in Kolkata. The institute started working from 1959. The institute is completely committed to the research and application of statistics. The institute is financed by Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India.

The Headquarters of the institute is situated in the northern out skirts of Kolkata. The institute offers programs at the following levels:
