Hi I want to know the date of entrance exam for admission in PhD in IIT Kanpur?

For admission in PhD in IIT Kanpur you have qualified GATE/UGC/CSIR examination for Ph. D. programmes in Science and Humanities & Social Sciences.
Admission to the Ph. D. programme is generally made in both the semesters in a year, i.e., July and December.

The advertisement is released by March/April and September each year respectively.

The basic qualification for admission to the Ph. D. programme is Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences respectively or allied area(s).

However, the applicants with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering may also be considered for admission based on their performance and attainments.

PhD eligibility-

Ph.D. (Engineering):

M.Tech./ME./M.Sc.(Engg.) degree in the respective or allied area. The candidates with Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology or Master's degree in Sciences in an allied area with exceptional academic record and having a valid GATE score may also apply. For Ph.D. in BSBE, candidate with MBBS, B.Pharma or M.Pharma Degree may also apply.

Ph.D. (Sciences & HSS):

M.Sc./M.A. Degree in respective or allied area with a valid GATE/UGC/CSIR score.
Ph.D. (Management): A master's degree in management or relevant disciplines in engineering / technology with a valid GATE / UGC / CSIR score.

Ph.D. (Design):

A master's degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Design with a valid GATE / UGC / CEED score.

General information:

All applications must be filled online. After filling the online application, one has to take a print out and send it to the department concerned, along with all the certificates, photograph, and a draft for application fee. The list of attachments are provided on the application page .

Financial assistance may be provided to students selected in M.Tech. and Ph.D. programmes.

Tentative Important Dates:

The online applications will be available from last week of March 2015, till to April 2015.

The printed application, must be received by the departments by the mid of April, 2015. (Along with all certificates and applications fee)

Application Fees

General , OBC candidates Rs. 400/-
PD, SC, and ST candidates Rs. 200/-
The fee must be paid through a demand draft payable to The Registrar, IIT Kanpur payable at Kanpur.
