The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is a public engineering institution located in Powai, Mumbai, India. The Institute was established in 1958. It is the second-oldest institute of the Indian Institutes of Technology system.

M.Sc. (Biotechnology)

A four semester program to impart in-depth knowledge of molecular cell biology, computational biology and their applications

Eligibility Requirement-

Bachelor’s degree in any one of the following:

Biological/ Chemical sciences

OR

Pharmaceutical/ Veterinary/ Medical/ Agricultural sciences OR

Engineering subjects/ Physical sciences with adequate exposure to Chemical/ Biological Sciences

Admissions-

Admission is based on IIT Joint Admission Test for M.Sc JAM exam.

The curriculum covers courses in thermodynamics, spectroscopy, enzymology, metabolism, genetics, cell biology, analytical biochemistry and microbiology, molecular biology, genetic engineering, immunology, molecular biophysics and bioinformatics, together with relevant laboratory programs, and a research project leading to a dissertation.

The program is sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, which provides a stipend of Rs. 1200/- pm.
