To make career in law you need to study L.L.B. or Bachelor of Legislative Law course. To apply for this course the applicant should fulfill following eligibility conditions:

Eligibility:
The applicant should have completed B.A. or B.Com. or B.Sc. degree with minimum 40% marks (35% for SC / ST) from any recognized university of India.

After completing LLB course following types of the job options are available for you:

To become a Lawyer the candidates have to follow the below given steps:-

Step 1

To become a Lawyer candidate has to first possess a degree in L.LB. For admission into some reputed law college for L.LB degree the eligible candidate has to undertake an entrance test conducted by Law departments of various universities of the India or the independent law schools/ Institutions.

CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) being one of the most sort after ways to get into law career.

CLAT is conducted every year to admit students into 5 year integrated B.A L.LB Degree Course in top ten of the national law schools.

CLAT consists of questions from the topics such as:
Legal Aptitude
Logical Reasoning
English including Comprehension
General Knowledge/Current Affairs
Elementary Mathematics

However some institute also admits candidates on basis of marks obtained by them in the qualifying classes.

Step 2

After completing LLB every Law graduate has to complete the mandatory internship as per the norms of the institutions.

Step3

As a last step to enter the profession as a practicing lawyer, one has to enroll oneself as an advocate in any of the State Bar Council. After that they are allowed to enroll and practice in any court in any part of the country.

However Law graduates can also opt for higher studies like L.L.M or Ph.D. to get in depth knowledge and specific qualification in their area of interest.

Types of lawyers

As the horizon of legal system is quite vast the practicing lawyers can choose their area of field - as given below- according to their interest and expertise.

Type of Lawyers can be broadly classified in two main categories.
Criminal Lawyer
Civil Lawyer

Civil Lawyers only deals with various kinds of domestic and civil disputes like frauds etc. Anything that is not formally classified as a crime is dealt with by civil lawyer.
Criminal Lawyer deals with all affairs involving criminal cases like murder etc. Anything that is deemed a crime is overseen by a criminal lawyer.
