EMU (Eastern Michigan University) police are empowered to investigate arrest or take other necessary action to address any criminal or civil infraction in the vicinity of the EMU campus, which includes the city of Ypsilanti and Washtenaw County.

EMU officers work very closely with all area agencies, including the Ypsilanti City Police Department, the Washtenaw County Sheriffs Department, and the Michigan State Police.

The functions of the EMU Police Department include patrol operations and investigations. Police services are provided 24 hours a day, every day. Police officers patrol by car, bicycle, and on foot to maintain high profile, proactive, and preventive public safety services.
