Directorate of Higher & Technical Education and Elementary & Mass Education Meghalaya is renamed as Directorate of School Education & Literacy.

All the Institutions at :
Lower Primary Level,
Upper Primary Level,
Secondary & Higher Secondary Level are under Directorate of School Education & Literacy.

Administer, regulate and run all Govt. Institutions in Meghalaya.

Regulate the function of all Non-Govt. Institutions in Meghalaya.

Release of grant-in-aid to Non-Govt. Institutions on a quarterly basis .

Allotment of fund to Govt. Institutions on quarterly basis

Timely release of scholarship

Filling up of vacant posts in Govt. Institutions.

Implementation of various schemes

Services offers :

Award of different categories of scholarship.

Award of different Book grant and stipend to students.

Sponsoring of students for technical studies outside the state .

Conduct of Entrance Exam for Diploma Course

Conduct of Entrance Exam for R.I.M.C., Dehradun.


Conduct of Interview for admission to different Polytechnics.

Regulate and coordinate NSS activities

Implement and regulate the NCC activities in the state
