I am sorry to say that, its not possible to attend IPS exam after completing your diploma.

To be eligible for Civil Services examination one should have a degree
Equivalent to graduation.

Diploma degree is not at all equivalent to Graduation.
It is equivalent to 12th only.

So, you can become eligible for the exam only after passing a bachelor degree in any stream.

IPS eligibility:

You must be at least 21 years of age at the time of filling the Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam form and not more than 30 years of age.

You must possess a graduate degree in any discipline of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of Central or State legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.

Candidates who are in the final SEM or have taken their final degree exam but are awaiting the results can also appear for the IAS and IPS Preliminary examination provided they furnish their proof of degree while filling the Mains form

Selection procedure:
The candidates will have to appear and qualify in the following two examinations:

1. Preliminary Examination/ Civil Services Aptitude Test

2. Mains Examination and Interview

Prelim syllabus

Paper I - (200 marks) Duration : Two hours

• Current events of national and international importance
• History of India and Indian National Movement
• Indian and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
• Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
• Economic and Social Development-Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
• General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization

Paper II-(200 marks) Duration : Two hours

• Comprehension
• Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
• Logical reasoning and analytical ability
• Decision making and problem solving
• General mental ability
• Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. — Class X level)
• English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).

Last date for receipt of applications: 12.06.2015 (FRIDAY)

Date of commencement of Examination: 23.08.2015 (SUNDAY)

Sorry to say but you are not eligible for IPS exam after diploma as the minimum qualification required for this exam is graduation.

IPS exam is a civil service exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) every year.

IPS 2015 Eligibility:-

Degree or equivalent qualification from recognised University.

Age Limit:-


Age must be between 21 years to 32 years.

Age Relaxation:-

5 years relaxation for Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe

3 years for Other Backward Classes candidates.

IPS 2015 Exam Date:-

Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam 2015:-

Date of commencement of Examination:- 23.08.2015 (SUNDAY)

Duration of the Exam:- 1 DAY

Civil Services (Main) Exam 2015:-

Date of commencement of Examination:- 18.12.2015 (FRIDAY)

Duration of the Exam:- 5 DAYS

IPS 2015 Pattern:-

Preliminary Examination:-

The Examination shall comprise of two compulsory papers of 200 marks each.

(i) Both the question papers will be of the objective type (multiple choice questions).

(ii) The question papers will be set both in Hindi and English.

Each paper will be of two hours duration.

Main Examination:-

Paper-A (One of the Indian Language to be selected by the candidate from the Languages included in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution). 300 Marks

Paper-B English 300 Marks Papers to be counted for merit

Paper-I Essay 250 Marks

Paper-II General Studies-I 250 Marks

(Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society)

Paper-III General Studies -II 250 Marks (Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International relations)

Paper-IV General Studies -III 250 Marks

(Technology, Economic Development, Bio-diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management)

Paper-V General Studies -IV 250 Marks (Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude)

Paper-VI Optional Subject - Paper 1 250 Marks

Paper-VII Optional Subject - Paper 2 250 Marks

Sub Total (Written test) - 1750 Marks

Personality Test - 275 Marks

Grand Total - 2025 Marks

Candidates may choose any one of the optional subject
