To gain an insight into what children want in a science park, CIDCO organised an essay contest titled 'The science park of my dreams'. The ideas penned by children in their essays will be put to use in shaping up this unique project in Navi Mumbai. 1. Former President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam is the guiding authority for the project. 2. Spread over an area of 18.55 hectares within walking distance from Kharghar Railway Station. 3. Natural surroundings and excellent accessibility. Details: The theme*cum*entertainment park will be spread across 250 acres on the Kharghar hill plateau. It will have a range of adventure activities, games and theme parks besides museums, galleries, hotels and restaurants Cidco will invite bids for the project next week. The reserve price for the land is said to be around Rs 2,000 crore. The developer will be selected by year*end No infra devpt on Kharghar plateau, says Cidco official Mumbai: Cidco GM (special projects) D L N Murthy has said there will be no infrastructure development on the Kharghar plateau that is to be auctioned. “There will be no purely residential, commercial, industrial, IT, sports village, auto cluster, SEZ or plantation on the plateau,’’ he said. He added that 60% of the area would be pure theme establishments while only 40% would be earmarked for real estate. Below the plateau (also known as Pandavkada hills), which has a valley and nature parks towards the Belapur hills, Cidco is already developing a huge 18*hole golf park besides a central park on the lines of London’s Hyde Park |
