For academic courses the Calcutta University is distribute marks in percentage. Candidates may also get their marks in CGPA through a formula.

The performance of a student in a Paper, Project Work and General Viva Voce will be evaluated in terms of Grades and Grade Points earned by the student.

The equivalence between Grade, Grade Point and the Percent Marks (out of notional full marks) are:

> 90% Ex 10
> 80% but < 90% A 9
> 70% but < 80% B 8
> 60% but < 70% C 7
> 50% but < 60% D 6
< 50% F 0

Grade F implies failure to earn the corresponding credits.

Grades higher than F and GP > 6 indicate successful clearing of a unit that will earn the student the corresponding Grade Point (P) and the Credits (C) assigned to that unit.
Formula for percentage:
Percentage (%) Marks = (CGPA 0.5) X 10

Formulas:

Indian Percentage 50/7550 = USGPA2.75/42.75

Indian Percentage50/25=USGPA2.75/1.25

Indian Percentage50=(USGPA2.75)∗ 20= 20∗ USGPA 55

USGPA=Indian Percentage+5/20
