The Board of Secondary Education, Orissa was based in accordance with the Orissa Secondary Education Act, 1953 and it commenced functioning in the year 1955 with its headquarters at Cuttack. The Board was founded to regulate, operate and develop Secondary Education in the State of Orissa by offering varied courses with a view to equipping pupils for different occupations, for education in the University and for other cultural purposes.
