Re: Year System in British Schools
Education in England is control by the Department for Education and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. Education is divided year according to age of the students. System is divided into early years (ages 3–4), primary education (ages 4–11), secondary education (ages 11–18) and tertiary education (ages 18+). Year System Primary 5 to 11 year olds. The years of Primary school where pupils cover Key Stages 1 and Year 7 11 to 12 year olds. The first year after Primary School, and the beginning of Key Stage 3. Year 8 12 to 13 year olds, middle of Key Stage 3. Year 9 13 to 14 year olds, final year of Key Stage 3. Pupils take SATs in English, Maths & Science. GCSE 14 to 16 years olds. Known as Key Stage 4, and pupils select subjects to concentrate on. Two year course. A-Level 16 to 18 years olds. Non-compulsory higher education where students study AS levels in Year 12 and A2 levels in Year 13. British Education System more information atteched a pdf file.............. |
