Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency for admission in Western Washington University (Except the students whose primary and secondary education took place in Australia, Canada (English Provinces), Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand or the U.S)

This is generally demonstrated by a minimum score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) of 80 (iBT) or 550 (paper-based), or a minimum IELTS score of 6.5.

Students who are earning a transferable associate's degree from a Washington State community college and have "B" or better grades in two English composition courses are NOT required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores.

TOEFL scores must be sent directly from the Educational Testing Service and must be postmarked by the priority application deadline.
