Western Regional Instrumentation Centre (WRIC), Mumbai is an autonomous institute established in 1977 and funded on 100% basis by the University Grants Commission (UGC)

WRIC has been functioning as a Registered Society with a Governing Council of which the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mumbai is the ex-officio chairperson.

Research & development
WRIC, Mumbai is engaged in R&D activities in development of new instruments, new technologies, including educational aids for effective training.
