The Wayne State University Multiple Sclerosis Center is the largest and most comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Center in Michigan that provides both clinical research and comprehensive patient care. The MS Center is nationally and internationally recognized for its patient care and cutting edge research in multiple sclerosis.

Clinical Service

Clinical Diagnostic Expertise

The staff at the Wayne State University Multiple Sclerosis Center are nationally recognized for their expertise in multiple sclerosis and related central nervous system disorders including:

Transverse Myelitis
Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO) or Devic's disease
Pediatric multiple sclerosis
ADEM or acute disseminated encephalomyelitis
Furthermore, a large number of consultations are provided for patients seeking a second opinion for:

High risk pregnancy multiple sclerosis management
Rapidly progressive multiple sclerosis
Abnormal brain MRI scans


Treatment Services


Six FDA-approved treatments:

Avonex, Betaseron, Copaxone, Rebif, Novantrone, and Tysabri
Other Off-label treatments for multiple sclerosis:

Cyclophosphamide (cytoxan), cellcept, azathioprine, methotrexate, rituximab, campath, and IVIG
Special symptomatic treatments:

4-Aminopyridine (4-AP)
Low dose naltrexone (LDN)
