Vinayaka Missions was formed in 1981 by the Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamingal Medical Education and Charitable Trust. The mission was conferred the status of university in 2001 by the Government of India’s Ministry of Human Resource Development according to the recommendations of the University Grants Commission as a means of acknowledging the high quality of education and infrastructural facilities offered by it.
