Vidyasagar University was founded in 29 September 1981 by an Act of the West Bengal legislature, it is an affiliating university in Paschim Medinipur district of southern West Bengal.

Eligibility:
Higher Secondary or equivalent examination having passed with 45 % of marks in aggregate in case of General Category applicants & 40 % of the total marks in case of S. C. & S. T. applicants.
