The Andhra University is a public university located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. It was established in 1926 and shared affiliating responsibilities with Madras University in the initial years. It is located in a campus of 250 hectares (620 acres).

The Vice Chancellor of the Andhra University is given below

Prof. G. Nageswara Rao assumed the office of the Vice-Chancellor on 17th July 2016. Prof. Rao joined as faculty member in 1989 in the Department of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry and became Professor in 2006

About the Vice Chancellor :

He won Best Research Award in the year 2000 and Best Academician Award in the year 2008 from Andhra University for his sincere efforts towards academic and research activities.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh also recognized his excellence in the field of education and conferred State Best Teacher Award in the year 2014.

He successfully guided 42 Research Scholars for the award of Ph.D. degrees apart from guiding 13 M.Phil. students. He published 292 research papers in both national and International Journals of repute. He has participated in more than 100 seminars / conferences.


Prof. Nageswara Rao acted as Peer Reviewer to National Programme for Technology Enhancement Learning (NTPEL) Course in Chemistry by IIT, Kanpur.

He also acted as an Expert Committee member for assessment of Major Research Projects funded by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi.
