Indian Engineering Services (IES) or Engineering Services Examination (ESE) is a national level recruitment exam organised by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for engineering positions for the various departments working under the Government of India. The Engineering Services Examination is conducted for 4 branches of engineering namely: Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Important Dates 2020 Notification Sep, 2019 Applications Sep - 15 Oct 2019 Application Withdrawal dates 22 - 28 Oct 2019 Preliminary exam 5 Jan 2020 IES Prelims Result 2020 20 Feb 2020 Main Exam 28 Jun 2020 IES Exam Eligibility Criteria 2020 Minimum Educational Qualifications Engineering degree holder from a University recognized under the Act of the Central or State Legislature in India. An engineering degree holder from any other Educational Institutions set up under an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities u/s 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. Engineering students who have cleared Sections A & B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India). One who has secured an Engineering degree or diploma from a foreign University or College and Institution recognized by the Government of India One who has cleared the Graduate Membership Exam of the Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India) One who has cleared the Associate Membership Exam Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India One who has cleared Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November 1959. Nationality/Category One should be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal, a subject of Bhutan, a Tibetan Refugee who is permanently staying in India until January 01, 1962. Indian origin individuals from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Age Limit One must have completed the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on August 1, 2020.
