The Uttar Pradesh Police will conduct a Mains Written exam every year. The UP Police SI Mains exam is for those applicants who were PST/ PET qualified. In the UP Police SI Mains exam there will be four subjects. These are as follows:
Subjects:

General Hindi/ Hindi Essay
Law & Constitution
Numerical & Mental Ability Test
Mental Aptitude Test/Intelligence Quotient Test/Test of Reasoning
Exam pattern:
The each of four subject’s paper contains the 120 questions. This is 100 marks paper. The exam duration will be 2 Hours.

Exam Syllabus:-

General Hindi/ Hindi Essay:-

General Hindi:- Questions & Answer from the Passage, Title of the Passage, Letter Writing, Word Knowledge, Use of Words, Antonym, Synonym, One Word Substitutions, Sentence Correction & Idioms Phrases.
Hindi Essay:- Candidate have to write an essay about Art & Culture, Social, Political, Economic Area, Environment & Technology, Agriculture, National & International News, Earthquake, Draught, National Welfare Schemes, Bio Graphy of eminent Personalities, Police Arrangements, Police Reforms, Ideal Police Arrangements, Origin & Necessity.

Law & Constitution:- General Knowledge about Indian Constitution, Aim of Constitution, Fundamental Rights, Directive principles, Rules & Regulations of constitutional Amendments, All India Service, Information about social Law related to women, children, Reservation of SC/ ST, Environment, Wild Life Conservation, Human Rights, Traffic Rules, National Security Issues, Principle of Crime Punishment, Right of Self Defence, General Knowledge about Law.

Numerical & Mental Ability Test:-
Numerical Aptitude:- Number System, Simplification, Decimal & Fraction, HCF LCM, Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Profit & Loss, Discount, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Partnership, Time & Work, Distance, Use of Table & Graph, Mensuration & Miscellaneous.

Mental Ability Test:- Questions will be from topics- Logical Diagrams, Symbol-Relationship Interpretation, Codification, Perception Test, Word formation Test, Letter and number series, Word and alphabet Analogy, Common Sense Test, Letter and number coding, Direction sense Test, Logical interpretation of data, Forcefulness of argument, Determining implied meanings.

Mental Aptitude Test/Intelligence Quotient Test/Test of Reasoning:-

Mental Aptitude Test:- Public Interest, Law & Order, Communal Harmony, Crime Control, Rule of Law, Ability of Adaptability, Professional Information (Basic level), Police System, Contemporary Police Issues & Law and order, Basic Law, Interest in Profession, Mental Toughness, Sensitivity towards minorities and underprivileged & Gender sensitivity.

Intelligence Quotient Test:- Relationship and Analogy Test, Spotting out the dissimilar, Series Completion, Coding-Decoding, Direction Sense Test, Blood Relation, Problems based on alphabet, Time sequence test, Venn Diagram and chart type test, Mathematical ability Test, Arranging in order.

Test of Reasoning:- Questions will be from topics- Analogies, Similarities, Differences, Space visualization, Problem solving, Analysis and Judgment, Decision-making, Visual memory, Discrimination, Observation, Relationship, Concepts, Arithmetical reasoning, Verbal and figure classification, Arithmetical number series, Abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationships, Arithmetical computations and other analytical functions.

UP Police SI Exam Syllabus

As per the UPPSC announcement, UP Police SI Exam Syllabus is provided below which contain General Hindi, Qualitative ability and Reasoning Question.

1) General Hindi: – The UP police SI applicant requires a candidate to have a knowledge and command over the Hindi Language. Questions are generally asked from the topics like antonyms, synonyms, Essay Writing, Idioms, Letter writing, questions and answers from unseen passages, Reading comprehension.

2) Quantitative Ability: – A candidates decision ability in a given time frame work is judged by the approach of solving the Numerical Ability questions. The examination Syllabus of UP Police Job is up to the standard X Here goes the important lists of topics which are generally being asked in UP Police Recruitment. The topics that are of utmost important includes Number System, Arithmetic Progression, Time Speed and Distance, Time and Work, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Ratio and Proportion, Alligation and Mixture, Simple and Compound Interest, Logarithmic and Exponents.

3) Reasoning: – The reasoning is an affirmative method to test the grey areas of a brain. Reasoning comprises of two types that is Verbal Ability and Non Verbal. The UP Police Jobs requires a candidate to have a good command over Reasoning. It is required by the UP Police Recruitment Board to have a quick grip on the reasoning area so that they can match up with the criminal activities, labor and political activities, communal activities and incidents related to law and order.

Reasoning is generally divided in two sections

Verbal Ability: – The topics in the verbal section comprises of Synonyms, ordering of words, sentence correction, antonyms, Spotting errors, sentence improvements, verbal analogy, idioms and phrases.
Non Verbal: – In this section, paper is comprised of the questions from the topics like blood relations, cubes and Dice, Paper cutting, Water Images, Mirror Images, Analytical Reasoning.

General Knowledge: – This Subject is very wide and it covers both Static and current affairs. Static General Knowledge includes the topics which do not change with the course of time. The topics like, History, Geography, subjects on Polity and Economy. Topics like Books, authors, business and science and Technology. Current Affairs are generally the subject of interest for many competitive exams. The current affairs modules need to be covered from reputed English and Hindi newspapers.

These topics can be covered from CBSE textbooks from 6th standard to 12th Topics like History, civics, Law and order, Sociology, Geography, Ethics and integrity and Public Administration can be easily covered from the scratch level.
