University Of Mumbai Attendance Rules

I am going to join University Of Mumbai for B.Com . Would you tell me minimum attendance necessary to sit in Exam because my father is in Hospital and I have to care him every week. Please provide me Attendance Rules of University Of Mumbai . Can I join it through Distance Mode ?

Under the new Attendance rules of University Of Mumbai , the mandatory 75 percent Attendance stays,

But College principals have been authorized to relax it by 25 per cent if the student provides bona fide reasons supported by documents.

According to a member of the council, the attendance issue has become important after NM College at Vile Parle debarred 237 students from appearing for the final exam due to lack of the mandatory 75 per cent attendance.

Every year, 300 to 1000 students are debarred from appearing for exams due to lack of 75 per cent attendance.

Admission of students are also cancelled on the basis of Attendance .

“While the 75 per cent attendance margin will stay, students will have to complete 75 per cent attendance clause that will be considered as an average of all lectures, practicals and tutorials.

The new Rules have Clarified that students who miss lectures for representing their institute in extra-curricular and cultural activities, will get credits for their representation.

“Attendance committee will have to display the attendance of defaulter students on notice board in the first week of every month.

Parents will also be informed.

Attendance is counted lecture-wise.

As per the Mumbai University rule, a student needs to have at least 75% attendance for appearing in the semester exams.

Principals have discretionary power to grant 25% relaxation for students who represent the college/university in sports, cultural programmes or skip due to medical reasons
