The University's police department operates around 365 days a year, providing the campus and the neighborhoods adjoining the university with law-enforcement services that enhance safety and security. University of Akron 40+ full-time officers are fully commissioned by the State of Ohio and have law-enforcement authority identical to municipal police officers and sheriff's deputies.

They are here to assist you. Please call them at 330-972-2911 (or 9-1-1 in an emergency) if they may be of service.

Fingerprinting services on campus:-
The University of Akron Police Department provides fingerprinting services to students, faculty and staff for nominal fees.

Certain Webcheck records must be mailed directly to an outside agency. Please check with the department or agency that your background check is being conducted for to determine if this requirement is necessary.


If a "mailto" Webcheck is necessary, please bring the correct address information with you at the time of the fingerprinting.
