The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) is a premier business school which focused on developing world-class human resources and capabilities to meet national development needs and global challenges, through quality teaching, learning, research and knowledge dissemination. Master of Business Administration (Finance) It is a rigorous 2-year programme. Students take such courses as Financial Management, Analysis of Financial Markets, Investment Management, and Economics. In 2nd year, in addition to courses in finance and other areas, students also write a two-semester long essay under supervision. The programme is also available during the weekend for busy workers who cannot enroll for the regular MBA programme. It is structured the same way as the regular MBA programme however lectures are on Fridays from 6:00pm – 9:00pm and Saturdays from 7:30am – 8:30pm. Admission Requirements One needs to have a good first degree (at least a Second Class Lower) from a recognized university with at least two (2) years relevant work experience. There is one admission in August every year. An entrance examination or interview may be conducted. Executive Master of Business Administration (Finance) It is a 2-year rigorous but flexible evening programme. It is aimed at working senior level officers. Students take such courses as Fund Management, Project Management, Total Quality Management, Project Profiles, Project Evaluation and Impact Assessment among others. In 2nd year, in addition to courses in Finance and other areas, students also write a two-semester long essay under supervision. Classes typically run from 6 pm – 9 pm, most days of the week. Course content is similar to that of MBA but class exchanges are deeper and more workplace experience is brought to bear on issues discussed. Admission Requirements The admission requirement for the course is a good first degree from a recognized university or an equivalent professional qualification, with minimum 5 years relevant work experience in executive positions. Admissions are in February and August each year. An entrance examination or interview may be conducted. |
