Can you tell me in detail about the MBA/Masters of Engineering Combined Degree course offered by Alberta School of Business of University of Alberta?

MBA/Masters of Engineering Combined Degree course is designed for those with an undergraduate degree in Engineering.

The School in partnership with the Faculty of Engineering offers the joint MBA/MEng which can be completed full-time in two years or on a part-time basis in up to six years.

It allows individuals with an undergraduate degree in engineering the opportunity to combine management courses with further studies in a field of engineering.

In first year, students study the key areas of business: accounting, economics, finance, management science, marketing, strategy and organizational behaviour.

In second year, the primary focus is on courses within the student’s engineering discipline.

One can select graduate level engineering courses from the appropriate engineering department: chemical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental, materials, mining, mechanical or petroleum engineering.

The number of engineering courses required depends on the specific discipline.

One enrolled in the program have the option of completing a summer internship in a related field.

An engineering project and a business strategy course complete the program requirements.

Admission:

One with an undergraduate degree in engineering is admissible to the MBA/MEng combined program.

One would complete one application to the combined MBA/MEng degree and must meet the admission requirements of both the Alberta School of Business and the specific engineering department within the Faculty of Engineering.

The MBA/MEng Joint Program Selection Committee consisting of representatives from the Alberta School of Business and the Faculty of Engineering make the recommendation for admission.
