Union Public Service Commission Civil Services exam has 3 Parts: Prelim Exam Mains Exam Interview Here are details about prelim exam: There are two papers. The papers are on: 1. General Studies (150 marks) 2. Some optional subject (300 marks) The Preliminary Examination will consist of two papers of objective type (multiple choice questions) and carry a maximum of 400 marks. General Studies Paper Indian Polity & Economy History of India including Indian National Movement Indian and World Geography Current Affairs of National and International Importance General and day-to-day Science Mental Ability and Basics of Statistics etc. Main Examination The Main Examination will consist of 9 papers in total comprising of conventional essay type questions. Interview / Personality Test The interview will carry 275 marks (with no minimum qualifying marks). Marks obtained by the candidates would determine their final ranking. Mains exam subjects: Agriculture Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science Botany Chemistry Civil Engineering Commerce Economics Electrical Engineering Geography Geology Indian History Law Mathematics Mechanical Engineering Medical Science Philosophy Physics Political Science Psychology Public Administration Sociology Statistics Zoology |

As you want to get UPSC IAS question paper for knowing type of questions so here I am giving you same: Exam Pattern of IAS Exam: Preliminary Examination There are two compulsory papers of 200 marks each in the Civil Services Prelims Exam. (i) Both the question papers are of the objective type (multiple choice questions) of two hours each. (ii) The question papers will be set both in Hindi and English. However, questions relating to English Language Comprehension skills would be provided only in English. (iii) Blind candidates would be allowed an extra 20 minutes of time at each paper.
