Department of Microbiology, University of Tripura was established in the year 2011.

Department of Microbiology offers courses in Microbiology leading to M.Sc. and Ph. D.

The infrastructural facilities are classroom and laboratories to be developed with modern audio-visual system ,instruments, and computer facilities.

Thrust areas of research include pharmaceutical microbiology, microbial Ecology, food microbiology and other applied microbiology.

Every year 15 students are admitted to the post graduate programme.

The infrastructure under development includes modern analytical equipments, departmental library and internet access to all students.

The course contents have been kept according to UGC-CSIR NET/DBT-JRF/GATE/ICMR-JRF/ICAR-JRF.

The department conducts regularly quiz , seminarand NET counseling to qualify its students for UGC-CSIR NET.
