HI I would like to know the varieties of Ginger which are cultivated & produced as well as the details like plant protection. Seed treatment etc?

Ginger is developed in numerous states in India. Dry ginger has great request abroad particularly in the Middle East markets. India is the biggest exporter of dry ginger.

Ginger is a tropical product adjusted for development even in locales of subtropical atmosphere, for example, the high ranges.

Season:

Might - June is exceedingly suitable for development.

Soil and atmosphere:

A friable very much depleted loamy soil rich in humus with warm and sticky conditions with 150 cm of yearly precipitation are ideal. This harvest is developed as a watered product in muggy zones from ocean level to a height of 1500 meters.

Seed rate:

1500 - 1800 kg of rhizome/ha is required.

Seed treatment:

Treat the seed rhizomes with Mancozeb or Copper oxychloride 3 g/lit or 200 ppm Streptocycline for 30 minute

Separating

Flooded harvest – 40 x 20 cm in edges and wrinkles.

Rainfed crop – Raised beds of 20 x 20 cm or 25x 25 cm

Shoot borer

Shoot borer can be controlled by showering Dimethoate 30 EC 2 ml/lit or Phosphamidon 86 WSC 1 ml/lit.

Leaf roller

Leaf roller can be controlled by showering Carbaryl 50 WP 2 g/ha or Quinalphos 25 EC 2 ml/lit.

Ailments

Delicate decay (Pythium sp.)

Give satisfactory seepage offices

Select solid and malady free seed rhizomes

Treat the seed rhizomes with Mancozeb or Copper oxychloride 3 g/lit or 200 ppmStreptocycline for 30 minutes.

In the field, soak the beds with 2.5 g/lit of Copper oxychloride or 1% Bordeaux blend or Metalaxyl - mancozeb 4 g/lit.

Rhizome decay

Rhizome treatment with Pseudomonas fluorescens @ 20g/kg rhizome + soil application, @ 10kg/ha promptly subsequent to planting and 45 days in the wake of planting took after by pre storm soaking with Metalaxyl 0.1%.

Leaf spot

Leaf spot can be controlled by splashing 1 % Bordeaux blend or Copper oxychloride 0.25%
