Re: TIFR Biology Interview Questions
The Interview is based on whatever B Sc background is in, or whatever area one is most interested or most comfortable in. During the interview TIFR Team spend a good deal of time trying to ascertain what areas the student is interested in working in, or help them clarify their interests. Their goal is to have students who are happy to have joined program, rather than to take in good students and force them into something that one is not happy to do. The Interview Format The First Day (Sunday): This will consist of an orientation session in which the institute address one’s questions and give the opportunity of lab visits. One’s interview will be partly based on these interactions. The session will start at 1:30 pm. One may arrive 15 minutes early, but it is not necessary to arrive prior to this. One must have lunch before one come. Snacks will be served at approx. 4:00 pm. The session will end at 6:00 pm for all candidates. The Second Day (Monday): All the candidates will be interviewed by parallel committees. Each interview will be approximately 10-15 mins long. Candidates will be short listed at the end of this day, and the list displayed on website and notice board. If one’s name does not appear on the list, one may leave. Again, no accompanying persons will be permitted in campus. Please make sure you comply with this. The Third and Fourth days: A single committee will interview all the short listed candidates. Each interview will last approximately 30-40 minutes. Documents to be Presented at the Time of the Interview Hard copies of the following documents are required at the time of interviews: a) A copy of the filled-up One’s Information Form. b) Write-up (max. 200 words) of one’s research interests. One may bring the same write-up that submitted in online application form, or modify it if one wish. c) Original certificates for verification d) Photocopies of mark sheets (Bachelor degree and above) e) 2 referee letters from your Teachers/Academic guides etc. on the letterhead, sealed and signed by the referee. There is no specific format for these letters for DBS, TIFR applications. |
