The Thiruvalluvar University was built up in October 2002 under the Thiruvalluvar University Act, 2002 (Government of Tamil Nadu Act 32/2002) as an affiliating University. It is an individual from the Association of Indian Universities (A.I.U.). The University is situated in a sprawling grounds of around 112.68 sections of land, at Serkadu close Vallimalai around 16kms far from Vellore City on the Ranipet – Chithoor Trunk Road. It likewise has a city grounds at Vellore Fort.
