The Agricultural College and Research Institute, Killikulam was established in 1984 - 85. At the beginning, it started functioning in rented building of MDT Hindu College, Pettai in Tirunelveli. Afterward, after the acquisition of lands and buildings from the State Seed Farm, Killikulam, a part of the educational activities was shifted to Killikulam during 1986-'87. Departments 1. Plant Pathology Research The research programmes are oriented to meet the need of clientele of southern districts as well as other places. To develop vegetable varieties suitable to this tract Production of quality hybrid seed in major crops. Standardizing alternate planting techniques in rice and developing agro techniques. Yield maximization of rice-fallow pulses.
