Re: Swot analysis of MBA college
SWOT Analysis is a way of evaluating the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that affect something. SWOT analysis is a tool for strategy development. In conducting the analysis, a business organisation places itself in a conceptual environment where there are both opportunities and threats. MBA college AWOT analysis: Strengths: Strength/USP of the B-school. Weakness: Drawback of the B-school with respect to others. Opportunities: The opportunities that the Institute presents for prospective students. Threats: The possible possible that a student might come across in the B-school. STRENGTHS Extremely well-known Excellent International exposure only 12% of the students at INSEAD are French One of the most well-known consulting Schools in the world. Traditionally INSEAD has been the Consulting Hub for recruiters. Financial Times ranked INSEAD 7th in the 2007 world B-school rankings Exchange programmes with INSEAD Singapore and Wharton School of Business. Cost of doing an MBA at INSEAD is very less as compared to doing an MBA at other schools in Europe and USA. WEAKNESSS One year MBA course. This might result in the Schedule being highly cramped up all through the year. The duration of internship possible is just a mere 2 months. Recruitment in Financial Services is not as strong as in Consultancies Being in the outer suburbs of Paris, commuting to the city and hence interaction with companies might be difficult during the quarters Opportunities (External Factors) Over 70 different nationalities are represented at INSEAD. This permits you to interact not only with individuals speaking different languages but also having different backgrounds and cultures. Inculcates extremely good personality development. Excellent placements in consulting area. Few years ago, McKinsey recruited over 80 students from INSEAD. Placements in Financial Services have been increasing constantly in the past few years. Exchange program in Wharton permits you to apply for campus placements at Wharton as well. THREATS The one-year MBA can be extremely stressful. INSEAD is traditionally a consulting school. Though placements in consulting are excellent, the placements in Finance are not as effective. You will be able to take part in the placements at Wharton only if you go there during their placement cycle and not otherwise. Since the duration of the MBA is short a huge part of the success in the MBA depends on the prior work experience. |
