Spanish Language Course In Calcutta University
I am interested to learn the Spanish Language and want to know is Calcutta University offers any Spanish Language courses. If yes tell me the lists of Spanish Language courses offered by the Calcutta University? Also tell me fee structure of those Spanish Language courses?

In 1917 studies in foreign languages in University of Calcutta started with the teaching of Tibetan, Chinese, German and Dutch. These were followed by French and Japanese (1918-19), Portuguese (1924-25), Italian (1929-30) and Polish (1939-40). At present 9 foreign languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Korean, Persian, Russian, Spanish and Tibetan) and 5 Indian languages (Bengali, Hindi, Pali, Tamil and Urdu) are taught at this department. University of Calcutta offer Certificate and Diploma Courses in Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, French, Hindi, Pali, Persian, Russian, Sanskrit (only certificate), Spanish, Tibetan and Urdu Languages (All the courses are of one year duration). Certificate Course Eligibility: 1. Graduation in any discipline with minimum 50% of marks (for both General and Honours Candidates) (45% for SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B) 2. No cut off marks for candidates who have post graduate degree. 3. No cut off marks for candidates who have graduated before 1990. Admission Test: Admission to Certificate course will be made on the basis of objective type written test of 100 marks (Pass Marks:-30) followed by counselling. One who will qualify the admission test is required to appear before a counselling session. Attendance during the Session: Minimum 60% of the total classes held. Number of Seats: The number of seats to the course is 50 for each Language. Reservation rules apply. Diploma Course Eligibility: 1. Graduation in any discipline with minimum 50% of marks (for both General and Honours Candidates) (45% for SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B) 2. No cut off marks for candidates who have post graduate degree. 3. One also have to obtain one-year certificate in a language from C.U. or an equivalent certificate from other Institutes is eligible to apply for 'Diploma Course' in that language.
