MA (Sociology) offered by South Asian University is a two-year programme offering a combination of compulsory and optional courses which introduce students to sociological and anthropological theories, contemporary social theory, as well as debates on thematic issues in sociology and social anthropology, enabling students to analyse social phenomena. Minimum Eligibility 12 years of schooling + a 3-year Bachelor degree from an institution recognized by the government of any of the SAARC countries in any discipline, with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate or an equivalent grade. One who has 4 year Bachelor degree or 2 year Bachelor degree and have cleared the first year of the Master's programme is also eligible. Format of the Entrance Test Paper and Course The duration of the Entrance Test will be 2 hours, and the question paper will consist of two sections: Section 1 will have 26 multiple-choice questions of one mark each that will test subject knowledge at UG level and general knowledge pertaining to South Asia and the world. Section 2 will require students to answer a set of multiple-choice questions based on the reading of a passage provided. This will carry 24 marks. All questions are compulsory.
