Re: SET Exam of West Bengal Details

The West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) conducts a State Level Eligibility Test (SET) for Lectureship in Universities and Colleges of West Bengal and Tripura (Accredited by University Grants Commission).

Subjects:
English,
Bengali,
Sanskrit,
Hindi,
Urdu,
Commerce,
Economics,
History,
Philosophy,
Political Science,
Education,
Chemical Sciences,
Earth Sciences,
Life Sciences,
Mathematical Sciences,
Physical Sciences,
Sociology,
Geography,
Psychology,
Mass Communication & Journalism

Eligibility:
Applicants who have Master Degree in above mentioned subjects with minimum 55% marks or an equivalent grade preceded by at least a 2nd class 3-year Hons.
Degree in the related subject or an equivalent degree from Foreign University is eligible.

(i) For subjects of Education, Psychology and Mass Communication and Journalism minimum second class 3-year Honors degree in any subject along with a 2-year Master degree in the related subject.

(ii) For Physical Sciences students Honors and Master degree in Physics, Computer Science and Electronic Science degree is required. Candidates with M.C.A degree in place of Master degree are also eligible provided they have Honors degree ill either of the above noted subjects.

(iii) For Mathematical Sciences, candidates having Honors and Master's degree in Pure or Applied Mathematics or Statistics are eligible

(iv) For Life Sciences, applicants having Honours and Master degree in Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology and Home Sciences are eligible

(v) For Earth Sciences, applicants having Honors and Master degree in Geology and Anthropology are eligible.

For SC/ST and all other categories of disabled persons including blind and low vision disabled minimum 50% marks in Master Degree is required provided they possess 2nd class 3-year Hons Degree in the relevant subject.

Applicants who have submitted Ph.D. thesis or have completed M. Phil Degree by the particular date or those who have already been qualified in the JRF/Lectureship Test conducted by UGC-CSIR (NET)/WBCSC (SLET) are exempted from appearing the SLET exam provided they possess 55% marks at PG level.

Serving Teachers in Colleges/Universities against substantive posts cannot appear for the exam.
