Special Class Railway Apprentices Exam is taken by UPSC .

Eligibility Criteria:
Age Limit: Students must have attained the age of 17 years and must not have exceeds the age of 21 years on 01-01-2014.

Educational Qualification: Students must have passed with 50% in the Intermediate or an equivalent Examination of a University or Board with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination.

Selection Process:
Students will be selected on the basis of Written Examination and Interview.

Date of Notification:- 11.10.2014
Last date for receipt of applications:- 07.11.2014
Date of commencement of Examination:- 18.01.2015

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conduct the Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA) examination for the selection of the candidates in Mechanical Department of Indian Railway.

SCRA exam eligibility-

Intermediate or an equivalent examination/ 3 years degree course/ pre-engineering examination / pre-professional or Pre-Technological Examination / engineering degree course / 1st or 2nd division in the pre-degree examination of a recognized university or board approved by the Government of India with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination.

Physical Standards

Aspirants should be physically fit and according to physical standards for admission to SCRA.

Age Limitation:

Age Limitation of the aspirants should not be below 17 years and must not above 21 years.

Age Relaxation:

For SC/ST candidates: 5 years
For OBC candidates: 3 years
Age relaxable for 3 years in case of defence services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or disturbed area.
5 years Age relaxable for Ex-service men including commissioned officers and ECOs/SSCOs
Age relaxation in the case of ECOs /SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of 5 years of military service: 5 years
Age relaxation for blind, deaf, deaf, mute and orthopaedically handicapped candidates: 10 years
Age relaxation if a candidate had ordinaly been domiciled in the state of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 01-01-1980 to 31-12-1989: 5 years.

SCRA Syllabus

SCRA Syllabus for Union Public Service Commission exam of undergraduate program:-

• General Ability
• Physical Science
• Mathematics

General Ability: The general ability test covers the following areas:

English- In this section, candidates will find questions on Unseen passages, general vocabulary and grammar. They should also prepare parts of speech, usage of Idioms and notice writing.
General Knowledge- this section covers geography, history, basic science like solar system and earth and environment. Questions based on economics like foreign policies, FDI etc. and Indian Social system can also be expected.

Physical Science: Physical Science covers syllabus-

Physics-In this part most questions are based on Length, velocity and acceleration ,Time and Mass, Newton’s laws, X-rays, friction, Mass and Weight, Temperature, Reflection and refraction of light, Electric current, Magnetic effect, Radioactivity and Equilibrium.
Chemistry- This section will cover some physical chemistry like atomic structure and elements and most parts of Organic chemistry.

Mathematics: It this all the imp. topics of 11th and 12th as Algebra, Trigonometry, Integration, differentiation, Differential equations, Vectors, Statistics and probability, Matrices and Determinants etc.
