Salary of Indian Police Service Officer

My sister has passed in CSAT Mains examination. She is interested in Indian Police Service (IPS). Please tell me what is the salary for an IPS officer in probation time period?

The remuneration of Indian Police Service (IPS) officer is based on the rank theyre holding and the region one is posted to. The pay scale given below is just rough approximates of the actual figures.

The pay scales vary according to the division or sub-division of services. It often happens that personnel with same designations of a particular branch or sub-division draws different salaries depending upon the area where one is posted and the duties he or she is required to discharge.

1. For the Director General of Police or say Commissioner of Police, the salary is 80,000 INR (consolidated) and there is no grade payment.

2. Additional Director General of Police or Special Commissioner of Police, the salary of 37,400-67,000 INR along with grade pay of 12,000 INR

3. Inspector General of Police/Joint Commissioner of Police, the salary of 37,400-67,000 INR along with grade pay of 10,000 INR.

4. Deputy Inspector General of Police also designated under the state government as Additional Commissioner of Police, salary is 37,400-67,000 INR along with grade pay of 8,900 INR.

5. Senior Superintendent of Police who is also designated as Deputy Commissioner of Police, the salary is 15,600-39,100 INR along with grade pay of 8,700 INR

6. Superintendent of Police or say Deputy Commissioner of Police, the salary of 15,600-39,000 INR along with grade pay of 7,600 INR.

7. Additional Superintendent of Police / Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police under the state government, the salary is 15,600-39,000 INR along with grade pay of 6,600 INR.

8. Deputy Superintendent of Police /Assistant Commissioner of Police, the salary is 15,600-39,100 INR along with grade pay of 5,400 INR.
