Re: Rules For IAS Exam About IAS Exam IAS Examination is one of the Civil Service Examination Conducted by UPSC For the Indian Administrative Services Eligibility Criteria Education Qualification There is a should for the candidates to hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by the Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions introduced by the Act of Parliament or announced to be known as a University Under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, like DU, MGSU ,MU etc Age Limit Category Maximum Age Limit General Category 32 Years OBC Category 35 Years SC/ST Category 37 Years Physically disabled 42 Years Exam Schedule Phase I: Civil Services examination Preliminary is organized every year in the month of August, whose results are normally declared in mid-October. Phase II: Civil Services Mains examination is organized every year in the month of December for those who has passed the Civil Services Preliminary exam. The result for the Civil Services Mains examination is generally declared in the month of March. Phase III: Civil Services Personality Test (Interview) is the last stage normally organized in the month of May every year. Notifications for the forms are normally notified by April. Exam Pattern Preliminary Exam Paper 1: General Ability Test (GAT) 200 Marks Paper 2: English Language and Aptitude 200 Marks Total 400 Marks Main Exam Qualifying Papers Paper A- One of the Indian Language to be selected by the candidates from the Language included in the 6th Schedule of the Constitution 300 Marks Paper B- English 300 Marks Papers to be counted for merit 3 Paper 1 - Essay 250 marks 4 Paper 2 – General Studies I 250 marks 5 Paper 3 – General Studies II 250 marks 6 Paper 4 – General Studies III 250 marks 7 Paper 5 - General Studies IV 250 marks 8 Paper 6 – Optional Subject 1 250 marks 9 Paper 7 – Optional Subject 2 250 marks Total 1750 marks |
