Hello sir I am taking admission in Ph.D program of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University so I want to know the rules of Approval of Research Guide so please provide me information about the same.

Manonmaniam Sundaranar University is a university in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Approval of Research Guide for Ph.D Candidates

1. Any permanent faculty member appointed on permanent basis with two years of continuous experience in Teaching / Research after a Ph.D Degree and in the case of experienced permanent faculty member after having Ph.D., degree, possessing to his/her credit a minimum of ONE publication in a Research Journal, working in a University Department/Affiliated college/Recognised Research Centre of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, may be recognized as a Guide for Ph.D., Programme in the respective discipline.

2. Any faculty member appointed on permanent basis after obtaining PhD with a minimum of two publication in research journals / conference volumes/anthologies may be recognized as a guide for the PhD programme.

3. The vice chancellor is authorized to grant guideship for Ph D programme on the merit of the case.

4. The faculty member has to make a formal request through the Head of the Department/Principal concerned with his/her remarks for the approval along with curriculum vitae, copies of publications and attested photocopy of the Ph.D diploma certificate.

This request for becoming Ph.D guide will be scrutinized by a Committee of Experts appointed by the Vice-chancellor and orders will be served as per the approval of the Vice-Chancellor.

5. The application for Guide ship under Full Time and Category A,B ,C shall be scrutinized by the Head of the University Department in the subject concerned and the Syndicate Sub Committee for Research.

External Guide

Any eligible academician with proven credentials working in any research institution/ recognized Universities in India shall be permitted to apply to the ‘Registrar, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University for external guideship on onetime payment of Rs.10,000/-

They have to full fill the following conditions

1. He must have been approved by the university, in whose jurisdiction he/she works/or by any other University.

2. The guide seeking approval, shall not be more than 62 years of age. No fresh candidates will be allotted if he is over 62 years.

3. Only teachers in service are eligible to guide. If retired, they will have to produce a certificate, to the effect that they are working in an Institute affiliated to some University/Institution. This letter has to be sent by the Guide, every six months, through the institution.

4. The applications submitted will be scrutinized by the Syndicate Research Sub-Committee on their recommendation; they will be submitted to the Vice chancellor, for approval.
