Educational Details: Candidates are must have Bachelor’s degree on the date of Application from any recognized university or institution are eligible for OSSC Prison Welfare officer post. Age limit: Candidates age limit: minimum 21 years maximum 32 years The upper age relaxation will be applicable 5 years for SC/ST/SEBC/Woman candidates as per rules. The examination shall consist of the following stages : 1. Preliminary Examination ( qualifying nature only ) 100 Marks 2. Main Written examination comprising of 3 papers 300 Marks 3. Weightage Marks from career assessment and additional weightage marks for Psychology / Sociology as one of the paper at Graduation Level ( Maximum ) 20 Marks 4. Viva-Voce Test 30 Marks Total 350 Marks Syllabus of the Main Written Examination Paper I, ( General English ) 50 marks. The question of this paper will be of subjective type of graduate standard and will broadly include Comprehension of a given passage Precis writing Usage and vocabulary Short essay writing Knowledge of Grammar Paper II ( Odia Language ) – 50 marks. The question of this paper will be of subjective type of graduate standard and will broadly include the following. Comprehension of a given passage. Letter / Application / Report Writing Usage and Vocabulary Short essay writing Translation from English to Odia. Paper III ( General Awareness ) – 200 marks. i. Psychology / Sociology 40 marks. ii. Numerical ability & arithmetic of H.S.C. standard & basic computer skills 40 marks. iii. Mental ability and Reasoning 40 marks. iv. Other field of General Studies such as General science & recent scientific / technological development, current events, History of India & odisha, geography, Indian polity and economy, Human rights and etc. 80 marks. Total 200 marks. Weightage Marks – 20 marks ( maximum ) i. Psychology / Sociology 40 marks. ii. Numerical ability & arithmetic of H.S.C. standard & basic computer skills 40 marks. iii.
