Re: Private Education In India

Education in India is provided by the public sector as well as the private sector, with control and funding coming from three levels: central, state, and local.

Indian Constitution is free and compulsory education provided as a fundamental right to children between the ages of 6 and 14.

The current Education system in India is one of the largest in the world with more than 1.4 million schools with 250+ million students enrolled, reveals EY-FICCI report on the education sector in India.

Schools have grown at a CAGR of 2.5% from 1.2 million in 2005 to 1.4 million and enrolment has grown at a CAGR of 2.2% to reach 253 million students.

At the primary and secondary level, India has a large private school system complementing the government run schools, with 29% of students receiving private education in the 6 to 14 age group. Certain post-secondary technical schools are also private.
