Re: Poverty And India

Hey buddy the Poverty is general scarcity, dearth, or the state of one who lacks a certain amount of material possessions or money.

It is a multifaceted concept, which includes social, economic, and political elements. Poverty may be defined as either absolute or relative.

In India, the Planning Commission is the premier agency for conducting research and analysis on the poverty data and statistics and presenting these to the public.
The Planning Commission of India periodically estimates poverty lines and poverty ratios for each year

As per the survey conducted in 2011-2012, the percentage of persons below the Poverty
Line in India for the year 2011-12 has been estimated as 25.7% in rural areas, 13.7% in
urban areas and 21.9% for the country as a whole.
