The Department of Computer Science, University of Delhi is a department of the University of Delhi under the Faculty of Mathematical Science it was started in 1981.

Syllabus for Entrance Exam of PHD:

A student should undertake two 3 credits courses as follows:
1. Fundamentals (RCS 101): Data Structures, Algorithms & Systems.
2. Research Electives (RCS 102): A combination of three electives as advised by the Advisory Committee of one credit each shall constitute the full course.

Department of Computer Science was instituted in University of Delhi, in the year 1981, with the objective of imparting quality education in the field of Computer Science. With fast evolving technology and the continuous need for innovation the department has always produced quality professionals, holding important positions in Information Technology industry in India and abroad.

The Department began the three year Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme in the year 1982, which was among the first such programmes in India.

The Department has also started M.Sc. Computer Science course in the year 2004 with the aim to develop core competence in Computer Science and prepare the students to carry out development work, as well as take up challenges in research.

Besides these the Department of Computer Science has strong research interests in diverse branches of Computer Science and offers a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Programme aimed at producing quality researchers.

The Undergraduate programmes B.Sc. (H) Computer Science, B.Sc. Applied Sciences as well as B.A. Programmes are offered by the University through its constituent colleges.
