Admission Ph D courses in Mumbai University are announced by the university every year around the second week of April. The admission notification regarding the same is uploaded on Mumbai university website. The advertisement regarding the same is published in national as well as regional dailies. Ph D in Mumbai University is offered in the following subjects Economics Sociology Chemical Technology Statistics Civics and Politics Psychology Law English Sanskrit Mathematics Marathi Geography Gujarati Hindi Physics Education Computer Science Kannada Commerce Life Science Sindhi Urdu Philosophy German Russian Arabic French Eligibility Master Degree from a UGC recognized University with 55% marks or above or its equivalent and 50% for Reserved Category students. M. Phil qualified Candidates are exempted for Ph.D. course work. Admission after topic approved from Research & Recognition Committee (RRC) of the University of Mumbai. Students from other than University of Mumbai should provide original Provisional Eligibility for the course. Application forms & Eligibility form can be downloaded online. However, one needs to submit in person to the Department the forms duly filled up. UGC-NET, SET, PET (Sociology) are exempted from aptitude test. Eligibility fees of Rs.220 /- for students from universities in Maharashtra and fees of Rs.320/- for students from other University (other than Maharashtra state) will have to be submitted in cash to the department concerned. Enrolment fee for students belonging to university other than Mumbai University is Rs.220/- Document required for admission: 2 Photos, T.Y/M.A./SET/NET/PET/JRF/M. Phil Mark sheet & Degree Certificate.
