Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh Has Invited applications for admission to DM and M.Ch Courses Admission to various D.M. / M.Ch courses conducted at the Institute is made twice a year. The sessions commence from first January and first July each year Name of Dept. /Course (with Seats M.Ch Courses CVTS (Gen - 03 & Spon - 03); Neuro Surgery (Gen - 05 & Spon - 02); Paediatric Surgery (Gen - 06 & Spon - 01); Plastic Surgery (Gen - 03); Surgical Gastro (Gen - 01); Urology (Gen - 02 & Spon - 01) Eligibility : Candidates must have passed the required MD/MS, or its equivalent qualification, recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) Candidates must be registered with Central / State Medical Registration Council Candidates must be within the prescribed age limit as on/before 31st December for January session and 30th June for July session respectively as detailed below: For general category candidates: 35 years For OBC candidates: 38 years For SC/ST candidates, Ex-Servicemen and Commissioned Officer including ECO, SSCO who have rendered or released on satisfactory assignment (please attach proof): 40 years For Deputed / Sponsored candidates: No age limit Application Fees : (a) Registration Fee: Rs.500/-, (b) Tuition Fee: Rs.250/- per annum, (c) Laboratory Fee: Rs.900/- per annum, (d) Amalgamated Fund: Rs.360 per six month, (e) Security: Rs.1000/- (refundable only after completion of course) (f) Hostel Security: Rs.5000/- (refundable) Selection Procedure : Selection of candidates for DM/M.Ch courses is two step process, with a theory examination followed by a practical examination. The theory examination will consist of a paper with two parts (Part 1 - General, and Part 2 - Specialty), each with 40 marks Part 1 will consist of 40 multiple choice questions, each with four options and a single most appropriate response The questions will be from the subject corresponding to the candidate’s postgraduate qualification, as per the list in Annexure 2 Part 2 of the paper will consist of 40 multiple choice questions related to the speciality for which the candidate has applied, each with five options and single/multiple correct response(s) Total duration of the theory examination is 90 minutes Each question correctly answered in Part 1 will be awarded one mark, with no negative marking for wrong answers In correct responses will, however, be negative marked in Part 2 of the paper This part has 40 questions, each with five response options. Hence there are a total of 200 response options.
