Re: PET Scan in AIIMS New Delhi
Yes, in 2005 Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in Mumbai has given the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi the go-ahead to use the Positron Emission Tomography (PET/CT) machine. Positron Emission Tomography (PET) machine precisely detects cancer in just over an hour. Those patients wanting to know whether they have cancer has no longer need to go through countless tests like X-ray, blood test, ultrasound, CT scan and MRI. PET spot chemical and metabolic changes in cancer cases much before structural changes, detectable through a CT scan, have time to develop. A single PET scan helps to determine whether the cancer is benign or malignant. The machine cost AIIMS Rs 17 crore, making it the most expensive in the institute's history. It is handled by AIIMS's nuclear medicine department. POSITRON EMISSION TOMO Private Ward Charges-Rs OPD & General Ward ChargesRs WHOLE BODY PET - CT SCAN 7500 7500 BRAIN (NEURO SCIENCES) & HEART/ SINGLE ORGAN 5000 5000 ALL FOLLOW-UP STUDY 4000 4000 SPARE FDG SALE FOR OTHER HOSPITALS/ PATIENT DOSE 7500 7500 |
