Punjab Civil Services Exam or PCS Exam is a combined competitive exam which is held by the Punjab Public Service Commission for recruitment of:

Punjab Civil Service (Executive Branch)
Deputy Superintendent of Police
Deputy Superintendent of Jail (Grade-II)/District Probation Officer (jails)
Excise & Taxation Officer
Tehsildar
Block Development & Panchayat Officer
Labour and Concilliation Officer

Important Dates 2014:
Date of Preliminary Examination: Mar 16, 2014
Date of Main Examination: third week of July, 2014 onwards

PCS Exam / Punjab Civil Services Exam Eligibility

Educational Qualification:
Candidate must have a degree of bachelor in any discipline from a recognized university or institution.

Candidate who is into his final year of the qualifying exam can also apply.

The candidates must have passed punjabi of 10th Class or its equivalent.

Age:

Candidate cannot be less than 21 years and more than 38 years of age

Candidates of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes of Punjab the age is relaxed upto 5 years as per Punjab Government

The upper age limit for a Punjab Government / Other State Government/ Central
Government employees are relaxed up to 47 years.

For Punjab Police Service/Punjab Prison Services, a candidate’s age must be between 21 years and 27 years.

For Deputy Superintendent of Police, candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes of Punjab are relaxed in age, up to 5 years as per Punjab Government Instructions.

The upper age limit for a Punjab Government employee who have served for minimum four years continuous under the Government, will be relaxable up to 45 years.

The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable up to a maximum of 5 years for ST/SC of all States and Backward Classes of Punjab.

The upper age limit for widows, divorcees and certain other categories of women of Punjab is relaxable up to 40 years.

Age relaxation in upper age limit is up to 10 years for the disabled persons of Punjab.
