Re: OTA Job in IMA

Indian Military Academy and Officers Training Academy are defense institutes which are meant for training officers. Both of them have different roles.

IMA (Indian Military Academy)

The academy is meant to train officers of the Indian Army. There are two ways to get into IMA: through NDA or through CDS (Combined Defense Services) both have different entry levels. NDA is for high school pass outs and CDS is for college graduates.

If one opt for the full service commission then one have to pass out from IMA. Only male can apply.

OTA (Officers Training Academy)
Officer's Training Academy is meant for men and women who have opted for a short service commission after clearing the CDS exam.

To join Officer Training Academy one will have to qualify Combined Defense Service Exam conducted by UPSC.
One must be a graduate with the age between 19-25 years.

There is no difference between the pay scale of officers who have passed through IMA or OTA. Except that there is a restrictions put by the short service span of OTA officers.
Some times short service commissioned officers are allowed to continue into a full service but not always.
