The general reservation policy of B-Schools in India for admission in MBA or Master in Business Administration courses in India is as follows:

At a broad level, the B-schools are classify into the ones which do not reserve seats for any group and admit students purely based on merit, and the ones which follow policy of reservation of seats for certain category of applicants.

The reservation policy followed by the B-schools can be classified into the following categories:

National level Govt B-schools –
They follow the following reservation policy
Other Backward Classes – Noncreamy (OBC-NC): 27%
Scheduled classes (SC):15%
Scheduled Tribe (ST): 7.5%
Differently Abled (DA): 3%

State level B-schools–

The seats are reserved for the home state students (domicile), the percentage of seats reserved varies from one state to other.

For e.g. in AP 100% seats are reserved for AP domicile applicants, where as in Maharashtra 85% seats are reserved.

There could be a provision for regional reservation under the home state reserved seats, for e.g., 70% of seats out of 85% which are reserved in Maharashtra are meant for local university students.

In addition to regional reservations, the state govt norms pertaining to community based reservations are in place.

Minority Institutions -
Usually the minority run institutions offer 50% of their applicants hailing from the minority community.

For e.g. LIBA reserves 50% seats for Christians and Rizvi-Mumbai reserves 50% seats for Muslim applicants.

Private Universities-
Some private B-schools, like the ones affiliated to Symbiosis International University offer reservation to SC, ST, DA and Kashmiri migrants.
