Details about the Year 3 Curriculum of Oakridge Junior School as you want to admit your son in it are as follows: Year 3 Curriculum English In it there will be investigating letters and authors; writing to advise and inform. Students will present information in different forms, including a news report. Students will explore a range of play scripts following the May Half term, before writing their own as well writing a script in a different, including a letter or diary entry. Students will investigate a range of poems in Guided Reading, with a focus on language play; how does the poet play with words to make it more entertaining for the reader? Maths The term in Maths will be covering a variety of topics including: Number, place value and rounding Addition and subtraction Multiplication and division Measures Fractions Data Science In it Students will investigate light and will carry out a range of experiments, including investigating what affects their shadow, and will then create a pop up book in DT which will include a range of levers and techniques, such as spinners and springs, to show off their knowledge. Creative Curriculum During summer, Students will learn all about volcanoes and earthquakes, using a range of research materials. Following the break, Students will then learn all about their locality, which includes a walk around Oakridge to carry out field work. PE PE classes are on Monday and Wednesday; students need to carry both inside and outside PE kit in school on these days. School PE kit should be a white t-shirt and black shorts or tracksuit bottoms. For health and safety reasons long trousers cannot be worn for indoor PE, long hair must be tied back and Students must have suitable footwear e.g. training shoes or plimsolls. Earrings should be removed. In indoor PE, Students will show off their dance moves, learning Latin and Ballroom, which will then be shared at the Summer fayre. In outdoor PE, Students will practice for Sports Day, carrying out a range of athletics skills. Computing Students will continue to learn the skills of blogging, whilst uploading a range of posts, comments, links and photos to their blog. Moreover, Students will learn how to combine text and graphics, as well as present data in different forms. Homework Maths homework is given out on a Monday and is due in on Friday. English homework is given out on a Wednesday and is due in on Tuesday. Children must read regularly to an adult as well as practice multiplication facts.
