Re: NYU Law Median LSAT
School of Law (NYU Law) is the Law School of New York University. Established in 1835, it offers the J.D., LL.M., and J.S.D. degrees in law. NYU Law was the first law school established in New York City. It is currently ranked 4th nationally by U.S. News & World Report, and is the highest ranked law school in the State of New York. Fall 2019 Entering JD Class Profile 427 full-time day students (no part-time or evening) LSAT Score: 75th percentile: 172 50th percentile: 170 25th percentile: 167 Undergraduate GPA: 75th percentile: 3.9 50th percentile: 3.8 25th percentile: 3.6 126 colleges represented 39 states represented 50% women 37% students of color 23% enrolled directly after college 64% out of college one to four years 13% out of college five or more years 8% hold advanced or professional degrees Eligibility One must be at least 18 years old and hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university or its international equivalent to be eligible to enrol in the Juris Doctor (JD) program. Students matriculate in the fall semester on a full-time basis only. Standards for Admission The admissions process is highly selective and seeks to enrol candidates of exceptional ability. The Committee on Admissions selects those candidates it considers to have the very strongest combination of qualifications and the very greatest potential to contribute to the NYU School of Law community and the legal profession. The Committee bases its decisions on factors including, but not limited to, intellectual potential, academic achievement, character, community involvement, and work experience. An applicant’s undergraduate record and LSAT scores, though important criteria are not the sole determinants for admission. There are no combinations of grades and scores therefore that assure admission or denial. The Committee evaluates work experience and extracurricular and community activity for evidence of advancement, leadership, and capacity for assuming responsibility. A letter of recommendation is particularly valuable when the writer provides substantive information about the applicant’s abilities, activities, and personal qualities. Since the Committee does not interview candidates as part of its initial review, the personal statement provides an opportunity for the applicant to supplement the information provided in application. |
